A New Approach to the Relationship Between Psychology and Weight Loss
Sharing about the reason for choosing the field of psychological treatment and body shape, Dr. Alexander Lapa shared: "I believe that mental health has an influence and is closely related to our physical health. I chose to study psychology and weight loss therapies because I wanted to help many people have a healthier, more beautiful and happier life.”
This can be considered a fairly new approach to the treatment of overweight/obesity and body management. Dr. Alexander Lapa's approach revolves around:
Focusing on positive psychology and behavior instead of relying solely on diet or exercise.
Focusing on building self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude about oneself and one's body helps people lose weight feel more motivated in the process of changing their lifestyle.
Setting small, realistic goals that can help create a sense of success to continue to maintain motivation.
This approach is suitable for everyone and is especially effective for people with Weight Obsession Disorder. This is a psychological disorder characterized by excessive anxiety about body shape, weight and appearance defects, which prompts patients to lose weight quickly, such as fasting, excessive exercise or self-induced vomiting after eating. Therefore, when body shape management is approached in a psychological treatment direction, it is easier to achieve good results.
